From the skilled hands of one of our volunteers, all of our snuffle mats are unique and handmade. And what is a snuffle mat? It's an alternative to a "food bowl" for your pet with many benefits. The design of the snuffle mats mimics the grass outside that dogs so much enjoy searching for forbidden treasures. How does it work? The pet's portion of dry food is poured onto the snuffle mat and is ruffled to sink the granules down and make the dog make an effort to find them. It is then served to the pet for whom the fun begins. Here are a few of the benefits of replacing a regular feeding bowl with a snuffle mat: - Reduces anxiety and calms the dog, as 15 minutes of mental stimulation has been shown to provide the same benefit to the dog as a 1 hour walk (but of course, should not replace it); - It tires his 300 million scent receptors; - Slows the feeding rate; - It's fun! Dogs love to sniff and look for food, this is often the highlight of their walks. * Each snuffle mat comes in a different combination of the selected color range.
